Transforming Both Technology and Culture for a New Market
Recall Corporation needed to evolve its product suite from a traditional offering into a modern, globally accessible SaaS platform on AWS. This was not just a technical challenge; it required a fundamental shift in their development methodology. They needed a partner who could not only architect and build the complex, multi-region cloud platform but also provide the hands-on leadership to guide their entire engineering organization from a slow, waterfall process to a high-velocity Agile/Scrum culture.
A Dual Focus on Technical and Process Transformation
I provided the senior leadership for this dual transformation, acting as both the Lead Architect and a hands-on change agent:
1. Global SaaS Architecture
I designed a distributed, multi-region AWS infrastructure architected to support a globally accessible SaaS platform. This ensured high availability and compliance for their international client base, providing a resilient foundation for their core business offering.
2. Microservices & Enterprise Integration
I architected and implemented a new backend using Java-based microservices, decoupling legacy systems and enabling the team to develop and deploy new features with greater speed and agility. I also led the complex technical integration of critical third-party systems, including Salesforce and PeopleSoft, into the core AWS platform to ensure seamless business process automation.
3. Hands-On Agile Leadership
Acting as a Scrum Master and coach, I personally drove the organization's transition to Agile/Scrum. I provided the training, documentation, and day-to-day leadership necessary to build a more responsive and collaborative engineering culture, effectively breaking down the silos between development and operations.
